Frederick William Poore
« on: Monday 04 April 16 13:22 BST (UK) »
One of the big mysteries of my family is the disappearance of Frederick William 'Frank' Poore. He was born in Christchurch in 1882 (1882/3810 is the BMD reference), son of Henry Francis Poore and Mary Smeaton.  He married Mary Elizabeth Moody in 1903 (Folio number 2684), had two children, and then promptly disappeared at some time circa 1910.  I can find hardly any other trace of him in online records.

Does anyone have any information that would help work out what happened to him, or suggestions on how to proceed?
Smith: East Lothian, Scotland
Mack: Berwick, Scotland
Fell: Yorkshire, England
Smeeton: Leicester, England
Haigh: Marsden, Yorkshire, England
Sullivan: Kerry, Ireland

Hello Zumaro.......

Welcome to Rootschat.

Do you have an occupation for Frederick?

So far I have not found anything for his wife Mary, e.g. a remarriage or death. Do you have this information?

Hello Zumaro

The "family tree" for Frederick William POORE (which as mentioned earlier by Rosie) is on the ancestry.com website.

The tree owner has photos of the family, including Frederick (Frank) ... although gives no further info on his whereabouts, other than that he went to Australia (Sydney) in 1914.

Have you found any information in New Zealand about his two children, Elsie May born 1907 and Henry Francis born 1904?

Minniehaha.

Only these two little snippets from school records:

Elsie May Poore was admitted to Brooklyn Wellington School on the 24 Jul 1912, at that time they were living in Hayes Street.  Her last day at School was 23 August 1912.

Henry Francis Poore attened Christchurch East School on the 5 Oct 1910, at that time the family was living in Armagh/Stanmore.  His last day was 2 Feb 1911.  He again attended the school on the 29 July 1912.  Address given was 451 Hereford Street.
