Robert Pattison

Hi!
    Can anyone help with the following?

I have a Robert Pattison born 1851 in Durham (Wingate, Coxhoe or Quarrington) son of John and Mary Pattison.

In 1861 Robert was living at Chilton along with his parents and siblings, place of birth listed as Wingate.

By 1871 both of Roberts parents had died and he was living as a lodger with a family in Close House, Bishop Auckland.

On 8th June 1872 he married at St Andrews, Auckland, Margaret Jackson (daughter of James).

Cannot find any trace of Robert or Margaret from this point? If anyone can help at all much appreciated!

On one of the Andrews Newspaper Index Cards on Anc is a note of the couples marriage details and a note at the bottom - For Widows 2nd and 3rd marriages in 1873 and 1885 see George Dinsdale and James Maffafey?

FreeBMD does have the 1873 marriage in Margaret Pattison to George Dinsdale Dec Qtr 1873 Auckland - So presumably Robert died shortly after he married. I can't see a death for him

Do you know how old Margaret was?  In theory she should be under Dinsdale in 1881 but I don't see a George nor a death for Robert either. 

What occupation did Robert have in 1871?  Wondering if he died away from the area.

The 3rd marriage for Margaret was Jun 1885 Auckland James Mahaffey. 

Looks like Margaret died 1888 age 39 so born around 1849. 

Possible death for George Dinsdale in Mar 1876 Auckland age 32 so she lost two husbands in a very short space of time

I have found three children for Margaret:

John James Dinsdale born 21st July, baptised 21 August 1874 New Shildon

Hannah Dinsdale born 1875 Auckland (Whitworth)

Margaret Annie Dinsdale born 1879 Auckland (Whitworth), died 1883 Auckland

Obviously Margaret Annie Dinsdale was born after George Dinsdale died in 1876

There is a death registered for a James Mahaffey in 1900 for Shildon but cant find him on the 1891 Census to see if he had any children with Margaret? He gives his place of birth as Ireland around 1842?

Any more help much appreciated!

There are Mahaffey children born in Auckland to check out

Dec 1885 James - a good bet as that was the fathers name

Sep 1887 - Jane Ann and Samuel - same page ref

Oh no sorry to get your hopes up, their mother Margaret is alive in 1891 and her husband is John not James 

Children James and Jane Ann are with them.

There is a baptism on Family Search of Lannad Robert Mahaffey 22 April 1886 at Auckland-St. Andrew with parents James and Margaret 

Looking as FreeBMD it looks like he was actually Samuel Robert


Edit Samuel Robert was living with Uncle Samuel Mahaffey and family in at Busty Terrace, St Andrews, Auckland in 1891
