black screen

Hi all,
    recently my computer screen is coming up black. In the bottom right corner is a message saying this copy of windows is not genuine click here to go online to resolve.
    Is this a scam? how do I get out of this?

When this happened to me a few months ago I simply opened Control Panel/Systems and on the bottom of the 'Basic Computer Details' screen clicked on either 'Activate now' or 'Change product Key' (cannot remember which) & all was well - the black screen went back to my normal desktop & Windows showed 'Activated' again.

Michael.
64 bit Windows 7 desktop.

    yes I do have all the necessary screening and no virus found. Will try what you suggest michael.
