Rosie, can you show us some examples of other writing on the second certificate please?

I just noticed the distinctive way the e in Dennison is formed - it adjoins the capital D ......

I posted this here as I have been looking at this man for EdCan who could not find him prior to 1875. It appears that Henry Dennison changed his surname from that used by his parents in 1851 & 1861 so it is quite likely that he was struggling to sign his 'new' surname. 

I thought that Henry looked the same as though he had always been writing that name. The marriage certificate does give the fathers name the same on both.

Ruskie, There are no other instances on the certificate of Henry's writing to compare his De's with.  They are not the same as the clergy's entry who joins the D to the e with a flourish.
