Help in where to look for Sullivan's in Monaghan?
« on: Sunday 24 April 16 15:50 BST (UK) »

From the discharge records for George Sullivan, he was born in 1837 & his Father's name was Michael. After getting out of the services, he stayed in England, which I have all the information.

In 1855 George enlisted with the  Monaghan Regiment of Militia, as a volunteer , but transferred to the 46th Reg. of Foot

On the discharge paper it lists that he was born in the Parish of Muckno, near the town of Castleblayney , in the county of Monaghan.

The Catholic, Church of Ireland, & Presbyterian Records have been search & found nothing.

Since it says near the town of Castleblayney, should I be looking someplace else?

Any ideas or help would be most appreciated.

Do all the local churches where you've already searched actually have records going back to the 1830s?

I see that the records for Muckno Parish (Catholic) start in Nov.1835- perhaps he was born a bit earlier than 1837.

The Catholic records have been checked twice, without any results.  I don't think he was Catholic anyway.

When the other Churches were checked, they were given the year, & said there was nothing.  I can only rely on what they said as I am in Canada.

I don't know if he had a sister or any other siblings.
