Yes I'm Howard Prissick, just reading about Removed to the asylum and discharged back to the Charterhouse. There was an earlier William Prissick who did have his wife Anne with him in the Charterhouse, he died in 1841 and I presume she was kicked out as wives were not acknowledged

Wives weren't usually entered in the register so I didn't know about Anne.  Looking at the censuses turns up quite a few women who must have been wives.  They weren't always kicked out.  There were "widows' rooms" but never enough, and I know of at least one widow who was allowed to stay whilst applying for a room in her own right.  Do you have Anne's dates?  And was William a relative of John?
