Online tree has his father born about 1841 Co Cavan Ireland... There is a James Devine from Co Cavan occupation labourer age 20 arriving 1858 fare paid by Parish Priest might just be a coincidence

Max the information for the marriage I have posted has the places of birth for both bride and groom and the registration number.  Good genealogical practice to record sources and references.  I always post from my resources not Ancestry indexes or online trees. 

I can't see the death of Herbert's mother on the thread nor the information from the Public Record Office of Victoria.

            Looking for information on Herbert Michael Devine born 1883 died 1955 looking for his parents and siblings and marriage .

I suggest that the Victorian BDM website be used for research in preference to the subscription based websites whose indexes have many inaccuracies and mistranscriptions of place names.

Mary Ann Devine 1878 County La Victoria  Born Colac Died as Mary Ann Josephine BOXSELL 1961 Perth WA.
Ellen Devine 1884 Camperdown Victoria died 1885 - there is no birth registered for Ellen in 1884 at Camperdown and the 1885 death is for an 11 month old daughter of James and Ellen who died at Camperdown.
Margaret Monica Devine 1882 Ondit Victoria she married 1908 George T Kingston she died Perth 1964
John Edward Devine 1881 Colac Victoria and a Patrick James Devine 1881 Colac looks like they are twins.  Patrick Francis[no James] DEVINE son of James and Ellen died Heidelberg 1948 Reg#365
Thomas Devine 1879 Colac Victoria  Died 1940 Colac Reg#15527
Philip Devine 1885 Campbells Creek - should be Camperdown. Died aged 23 days at Colac 1885 Reg#4677

There is no Victorian birth registration for a Frances with parents John and Teresa/Theresa on the Victorian indexes.  You would need to purchase the marriage certificate to find her parents. However trawling the indexes for CAMPBELL births in the 1870's, there are a number to John CAMPBELL and Elizabeth SMITH and includes a Frances born in 1878 at Winchelsea Reg#26464.   There is a headstone in the Colac cemetery for a John CAMPBELL who died in 1904 and his wife Elizabeth nee SMITH who died in 1906.  You can search for Frances's siblings on Vic bdm.

1909, 1931 and from 1943 and 1949 same address but he's now Herbert Michael.
