Birth/Baptism Help Please
« on: Wednesday 20 July 05 10:16 BST (UK) »
Hi There

Can someone help please, on the IGI i have Nelly Thorpe Female b 1875 Nottingham Parents James and Mary Thorpe, she is with parents on 1881 Census can't find her birth any where else.

To confuse things i have found the birth of there son Cornelius Thorpe also born 1875 Mar Qtr Nottingham, he is not on the 1881 census but does appear on the 1891 when nelly disappears.

would someone check the Birth/Baptism for Nottingham to see if they are on there.

Thanks Bev (confused)

Hi Bev, James and Mary don't seem to have been too fussed about baptising their children I'm afraid.

They baptised Cornelius, Harry and William together at Nottingham St Paul 02/03/1884, plus an Edwin 17/02/1893, also at Nottingham St Paul. Can't see any daughters listed for them.

Hi Heather

Thank-you for looking, maybe they only had the boys Baptised for some reason.

These are the Daughters as listed on the census records

Charlotte abt 1869 nottingham
Nelly abt 1875 Nottingham
Sarah Ann abt 1876 Nottingham

Its strange that none of the girls were Baptised, oh well back to the drawing board i,ll see if i can find there births
