James Doyle 1819
« on: Wednesday 20 July 05 11:55 BST (UK) »
Any one out there researching this family:

Thomas Doyle (born circa 1796 Wexford) married to Alice Knowles (circa 1794 Kilkenny)
children: JAMES (1819); Morris (1826); Peter (1828); John (1830); Bridget (1841); Mary (1843); Thomas (1821) and Patrick (1839)

I'm hoping for any info on James Doyle (1819) in a desperate attempt to eliminate him from my list of James Doyles who could be the father of Peter Doyle born circa 1849, who married Mary Burke in Leigh, Lancashire in 1873.

Clutching at straws here!!

Hello Julie and Ashe,

There are three items you require when searching for Irish ancestors.

1. Denomination.
2. Parish
3. Townland.

You'll have to rely on Church records as civil registration in Ireland was not introduced until 1864. Non Catholic marriages were registered from 1845 onwards. When registration for BDMS started in 1864 some people didn't bother with the registration for a few years after that date. Keep your fingers crossed that church records still exist.
