I can see a baptism in Bangalore for an Alfred Rogers born on 10 March 1863, parents John and Jane Anne, but Bangalore is 1000km from Bombay - are you sure it's the person you are looking for?

Am I right in thinking that the one you are interested in was married in Pontefract in 1887 - and the father's name is recorded as Charles?

Thank you, Shaun.... Alfred is 100% as hes my 2nd Grandfather, but yes now do you see why in confused? I also got the same information?

On the 1891 Census Alfred states, he was born in East Indies? He was a Police Constable as I am in contact with someone who has his gold retirement engraved watch.

1901 Census States East Indies again, both the same address

1911 Census Different address same family members but place of birth Bombay?

I can only see his mother (Annie) mentioned in his service record, and Jane his wife. No father.

John & Jane Anne Rogers also had a son Charles in 1861 in Bangalore, and a daughter Catherine  in Secunderabad in 1865.

There is an earlier birth, John Rogers,  in 1858 in Secunderabad. The father's regiment in that one is named as 12th Lancers, while the other three record the regiment as 1st Kings Dragoon Guards
