YOUNG of Bamburgh
« on: Friday 13 May 16 23:28 BST (UK) »
Seeking info on William Young, born Beadnell  1802, father ( i think ) was James Young,
Think they were Presbyterian. If anyone can oblige.  I'd much appreciate any help.
                                  Thanks    Dolly

I think either North Sunderland or Warenford Presbyterian churches would be the places to start looking for a baptism.  I'm assuming that you've not found him online.

There is an entry on Family Search for a baptism of a William YOUNG, father James at Warenford Presbyterian. Child born 1st July 1802, baptised 3rd July 1802.

These records do not seem to be in the Ancestry non conformist registers collection (RG4) but the LDS do have a film and the originals seem to be held at Woodhorn.

The original record 'may' give further details but that is luck of the draw :-)

There is a previous thread which may be of interest to you
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=240714.0

and somewhere in there (there are quite a few posts)  is the info that the Warenford Presbyterian Register states that William Young, born 1802 was born at Anstead, Bamburgh

Christine,   Thanks,   I would go with Warenford,
as that is the place mentioned in a few instances of my searches.

Boo   thanks for the thread you posted, I think I have seen that perviously but nothing is sticking out there as yet, although I am pretty sure that it is my Wm Young,
, also that James Young  and Eleanor (Brown) are the parents ,  Would like to find more offspring of them, so will keep digging..

                                                     My thanks,   Dolly

Following Boo's lead to family search and using the batch number for all the Warenford baptisms I can see only 6 children with a father called James Young, dates from 1791 to 1808.  Whether they are siblings is impossible to tell.

There are a lot of Youngs using that church over the decades.

Thank's Christine,  trouble is my James and Eleanor diden't marry until 1799, so it's doubtful if any of them would be mine.
I remember a thread was posted some years ago on a James Young and Eleanor Brown, and it was definately  Warenford Presbyterian. All the offspring  names were given,  Cant remember at all who and when posted , as it was a long while ago,  it does not come up using the search ... soooo
back to the drawing board !  Dolly

Four of them could be yours - James 1800, William 1802, James (first one died, maybe) 1805 and George 1808.  Unfortunatley none of those records have a mother's name listed on the transcription but she could be mentioned on the original records.

I will probably be at Woodhorn on Wednesday as usual - I could take a look if you wish.

Christine thats great, thanks.  I do think its quite  possible that these names are the same family I am searching for,   as my William Young who married Jane Dunn, named 3 of their sons  with these names.. I know they were very popular names, but sometimes gut instinct plays a part in this game, I know cos its happened before...   Much apppreciated, Dolly x
