Hi
Can I ask for some assistance in tracing my great uncle.  He appears on the 1871 census, aged 6, living with his parents Robert and Jane and his 2 brothers Robert and Albert on Wellington Lane. The family never moved from the area. In 1881 George Gray aged 16 is a steward aboard the SS Stanton but how can I verify that it is the same George Gray?  I have been unable to find any trace of him after this date.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Pam

Hi Rosie

I have looked at him before but I think he is the son of William and Priscilla Gray. My George is the son of Robert and Jane.
Thanks for looking.

Not sure how you would prove it is the same George Gray that was on the Stanton.

I searched the 1881crew agreement list on the Maritime History Archive and the crew agreement list (including original images) for the S S Stanton is in the 1881 database
https://www.mun.ca/mha/1881/crews1881.php is the search screen

Unfortunately it doesn't give any more info about this George 'Grey/Gray' than you already have but he could still be yours I suppose.

Boo

If nothing else the crew list is interesting to look through.
