Independant "Stand alone" family tree programme
« on: Sunday 22 May 16 16:22 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am coming to the end of my subscription to an internet based family tree.    Due to the annual cost and also nearing the end of my research (as far as I can go) I do not wish to carry on with this subscription.   However if I do not renew I lose my tree!

I am looking for a "stand alone" family tree programme not linked to any internet subscription that I can hopefully transfer to and keep updating at my leisure.    I have FTM but am not too happy with it.    Looking for a compatible and similar programme to MH

Harry

Hi Harry

There are several tree programmes in the market place

https://genealogysupplies.com/product/Windows-Genealogy-Software/intro

you should find useful discussions on the pros and cons of each here

At the end of the day, the choice will be yours but I wiould suggest trying to find demo versions online and give them a go to get the feel of how the data is presented and the types of trees and reports the software can produce.

Are you sure?

I used to have a subscription to Ancestry, but can't afford it any more!
I can still see, and edit, my trees - and I can even create new trees! ;D
