Just got this in an email and I can hardly make any sense of it. I think it might be a war record of George Oliver Hambling. Any help would be such a bonus.

Thank you

It's a list of ships and shore establishments with dates and his rank in the Navy

So for the first one you have him as a Boy 2nd Class at HMS Ganges which is RNTE Shotley from July 34 to Feb 35

http://www.rootschat.com/links/01hoo/

and you follow it down from there  - eg the next entry is his promotion to Boy 1st Class at the same establishment

I find Wikipedia a great help for this
Middlesex: KING,  MUMFORD, COOK, ROUSE, GOODALL, BROWN
Oxford: MATTHEWS, MOSS
Kent: SPOONER, THOMAS, KILLICK, COLLINS
Cambs: PRIGG, LEACH
Hants: FOSTER
Montgomery: BREES
Surrey: REEVE

Try and borrow from your local library "Shore Establishments of the Royal Navy" compiled by Lt. Cdr. Ben Warlow RN.  ISBN 0 907771 73 4
This will tell you details of the shore establishments he was attached to.
As already stated Wikipedia and Google should give you details of the major seagoing ships he served on.
