Burial records
« on: Thursday 21 July 05 01:59 BST (UK) »
My Ayrshire ancestors were agricultural labourers of limited means. I am sure they were buried without markers because they couldn't afford such a luxury. Would anyone know the likelihood that the cemeteries where they are buried kept records on such people?

It all depends on the location.

I suggest that you contact the Glasgow & West of Scotland FHS, - http://www.gwsfhs.org.uk/ , - or one of the smaller, local FHSs covering different parts of Ayrshire and seek their advice, - see the SAFHS site at http://www.safhs.org.uk/.

I think that they have contact info for the Alloway & Southern Ayrshire, East Ayrshire, Largs and N Ayrshire, and Troon & Ayrshire FHSs.
