Busy gal our Henrietta !! she has lost me, as have the Shipwright and the Dredgerman - still have my money on the Rochester lot - which to date read :
1814 Thomas
1815 Elizabeth
1819 William
1821 Harriet
1824 Edmund Thomas
1826 George
The only one with the three boys mentioned on the allotment sheet

But which Sarah married a Thomas on the 4th May in Gillingham 1814 ( and quickly had Thomas)

or took their time married on the 13 th May 1813 in Frinsbury and also had a Thomas in 1814 was it Sarah Matthews or Sarah Dean and who married who ?

To confuse further - up turns a John & Mary who baptised a Thomas on 2nd Sept 1791 IN
ROCHESTER !

Best

John

p.s. Not being a Kent man is Frinsbury giving us an answer or a problem ?

Looking at the highlighted children in 1841

Edmund Thomas is a mariner married to Julia, living St Margarets Bank, Rochester (oops! that's 1851)
George is living in the household of Paul Goldstone in Ship Street, Rochester
William is proving a little difficult to find at the moment.

Sarah looks to have died - I will investigate that............

Thanks yet again and Good Morning Bearkat

Yes reckon that would be our Sarah, the family always used the same Church for everything. Any sign of her husband's death ( we know when the Shipwright died so can rule that out) may be before 1838, when her son sent the allotment ?
Edmund Thomas being a mariner, helps (I think) ?
Now please clue me in on this - The Sarah Dean appears to be on nonconformist church registers - so since Rochester's Sarah always uses St Margaret's next Rochester would she therefore be Sarah Matthews - if you see what I mean like ?

Best

John

p.s. Floods just starting to diminish thank goodness, they were getting too close!

Getting more  confused - so Grandma must be around in 1851, but who's Gran and where ?
If Husband was a Freeman, then would the town look after her ?

Hello Bearkat

It does seem that in the late 1700's there were at least three families of 'Tillman' in the Rochester/Chatham area, that being so one might safely assume that they had Kent Ancestry.

The other problem comes at the Devon end, due to Hitler's demolition Mob and their bombing of the Exeter Archive building, the availability for research is very limited, and in particular the 1700's, so sadly we are into brickwall time !

Thank you again for all your efficient work, it was a pleasure working with you.

Best

In 1851 Mary aged 88 and born Strood is on charity (pauper) living with her daughter at Brisley's Yard near St Margaret's Bank.

It would be nice to find a will - they are be good for sorting out families.
