Donald Alexander Smith was born on 9 September 1931 in Rothes, Moray and died on 24 January 1994 in Enfield, Middlesex.

He married and had two children in the London area, where he was a Metropolitan Police officer. I do have their names and a name for his wife but obviously can't post them here as they are possibly still living.

On his grandmother's death certificate in 1964 he gave his address as 690 Lordship Lane, Wood Green, London.

Can anyone suggest how (without travelling to London) I might be able to access the information in the Register of Electors for 1964/5 and later years to find out who else was in the household at that address?
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

The electoral registers for Wood Green, Town Hall Ward, 1964-65, are online (on ancestry)
There is nobody listed at 690 Lordship Lane in either year.

Thank you. Looks like a dead end then.
