Albert Victor Church
« on: Tuesday 07 June 16 22:55 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find out what happened to Albert Victor Church after 1925.
1889 - His birth was registered Q3 Penge, Surrey.
1915 - He married Edith Mary Stapleton, haven't found confirmation of this yet
1925 - Electoral Roll - living with Edith at 20 Kent House Road, Sydenham Ward, Lewisham.
I can't find any record of him since then. There were children born after this date:
1926 - twins birth registered Woolwich
1928 - sons birth registered Datford

I can find no record of either Albert or Edith until 1939 Register when I found Edith at the Westhill Hospital, Dartford. In 1945 she had moved back to Lewisham and died 1969.

From what I have been told, the children were placed in homes/orphanages.

I do hope I can get this puzzle solved and I thank you in advance for any light you can throw on this brick wall.

Edited to add - there is an Albert Victor Church living in Lewisham from mid 1930's but that is not the one I am looking for.

Thank you so much - I had looked in FreeBMD but couldn't find anything. I now realise that I need to be a bit more flexible with my search criteria.

The death certainly looks a possibility. In the 1939 Register, Edith states that she is married which makes me wonder now how true that is.

I am doing this research for one of the children of the marriage who was bought up in a home and didn't know she had any siblings until she applied for her birth certificate.

Possible death?
June qtr 1933
Chelsea Registration District     vol 1a, page 409

Church, Albert V W     age 44

Given the extra initial, this 1933 death record could be the Albert Victor W. Church whose birth was registered in Q4 1888 in Aylesbury.

Oh thank you, that looks promising. I will have to check the location to see if there are other instances of him living there.
Is there anywhere I can get more information about that death record? I live in New Zealand and it is very expensive to get a certificate especially if it is not who I am looking for.

A death certificate will cost £9.25, direct from the GRO (including postage & packing).

That's less than NZ$20?

In England/Wales there is no alternative - if you want to see the details, then you have to buy the certificate.

I was hoping for a service similar to what we have here, emailed within 3-4 days of ordering. I have been asked to put together some of the family history for one of the children of the marriage who turns 90 on June 18. Never mind, another few weeks is nothing compared to 90 years of not knowing.
Thank you for your help, much appreciated. :)
