Look-up at Cumbria Record Office please. WILSON
« on: Friday 17 June 16 19:02 BST (UK) »

I don't know if this is the right Board for Cumbria?

But I'm wondering if someone might be able to do a Look-up at the Cumbria Record Office?

It's for: William Wilson Stonemason in Cumbria (Orton) in 1863

Cumbria Record Office hold some of his drawings and a notebook 1860-1870

Cheers, Romilly.

I assume you're asking about this; it's supposed to be at Kendal (one of several record offices) -

Yes, - that must be it.

There's a (slim) chance that it might be a relative...

My Grandfather William James Wilson (1860 - 1937) says on his Marriage Cert, (in Swansea June 1893) that his Father was 'William Wilson (deceased) Occupation: Mason'.

William James Wilson says, (on the 1901 and 1911 Censuses for Swansea) that he was Born in Manchester, Lancs. I'm unable to find a definate Birth Entry for him... and so have been looking for his Father, William Wilson, Occupation: Mason.

I'm in Hertfordshire, and just wondered if anyone might be local to the Cumbria Record Office.

Romilly.

I was making the point that it's no use going to Carlisle, Whitehaven, Barrow or even Penrith, because the document{s) you describe are apparently at Kendal. :)
