Charels William Henry Hill
« on: Sunday 26 June 16 21:26 BST (UK) »
Hi All, looking for a death of the above man, he was born 1903-1905 and was in the merchant navy. his wife Eileen Hill died in Birmingham in 1970,  so he may have died in that area, no idea when, he left the navy in 1958 after which there was no contact. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
Cheers

Where?  Freebmd shows 2 possible births - one in 1903 and one in 1905 so which one is he?  Birthyear needed to determine correct death

Have you checked freebmd?  Do you have any info from Eileen's death cert showing whether she was a widow at that time?

You say he left the navy in 1958 and there was no contact after that,do you mean that his wife didn't know where he was,if so how can her family have said that she was a widow when she died in 1970?

There is no Eileen Hill death in 1970 in Birmingham so where did you get that info?

Death registrations prior to 1969 do not show full birthyear - only age at death so if he pre-deceased Eileen it may be difficult to establish his own death date as there are a number of Charles William Hill deaths but none with a third christian name of Henry

Thanks for the link Carol

Colin - the main contributor to your post was Nat-London so did you ever confirm for definite that you were both researching the same person?

If so - he married in 1941 in Cork.  If you have his Navy discharge papers - do they show an address?

I still can't find an Eileen Hill death in Birmingham in 1970

Hi Carole,
Nat and I are related to Charles William Henry Hill, Nat was at the National Archives and obtained his Merchant Navy records, however they do not show and address he left in 1958, the only address is the one in Cork but apparently he did not return to Ireland.
Thanks for everything
