Surrey electoral roll.
« on: Wednesday 29 June 16 14:35 BST (UK) »
Hi.
Can somebody let me know if the the electoral rolls for Surrey give the actual name or number of the house of persons entitled to vote.  The person I am seeking lived in Camberley, Surrey from 1900. I know the name of the road but not the number/name of the house. The census for 1901 only states the road and nothing else. I am aware that Ancestry have the records but I do not want to contribute and find I get nowhere.  Very many thanks.  Dud.

Hi.
Thanks for your reply.  The person in question is Harry Jacobs b.1853 in Dorset. He was a bricklayer  and the family moved to Camberley Surrey in 1898/1899. The 1901 census shows them as living in Gordon Road.
As you know some enumerators were more descriptive than others. The person doing the census in Gordon Road  gave the entry number only, no road identification.
Do you think you can help?
Many thanks  Dud.

The electoral rolls will be no help to you as regards the Gordon Road address. He's there 1905-1907 but there is no house number.

The electoral roll for 1901 has a Harry Jacobs at a different address in Camberley: 2 Cross Street.
