I think Catherine may have died in 1951 in Rutherglen, Lanarkshire. There is a death entry showing for a Catherine Watson/McCallum that year, born c. 1877.

Always good to check death certs to see who, likely within the family, reported the death.

I think this might be Catherine and David (as Daniel, as a variant):

I've seen Daniel as a variant of Donald, but not so far of David. Could it be a transcription error?
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Scotlands People on their index also show the name as Daniel. I can't find a source for this variation such as on here www.whatsinaname.net/male-names/David.html ....however, I have seen this before on census searches.

As for 1911, can't easily see them so far from general searches with what we have...

There is a birth for a Joseph Watson McCallum in 1902, Blythswood Glasgow. I wonder if this is connected (Catherine's father)?

Monica

Added: He is a son to David and Catherine. Married in 1927 to a Marion Scott Cooper Burleigh. He was a chauffeur by occupation at the time and father David is showing as a commercial traveller. No other obvious family names on registration.

There is this entry in 1911 in Rutherglen, Lanarkshire - we like it best when they use all their middle names  ::):

John Rae Brown, roadman in coal mine b. Ayr
Mary Rae Brown wife b. New Cumnock (a sister to Catherine?)
Eliz Walker McCallum niece b. Glasgow
Joseph Watson McCallum nephew b. Glasgow

We didn't have Elizabeth on the McCallum family's 1901 census entry above. Wonder where she was?

The rest of the family is still to be found...

The family are in Rutherglen for 1911, indexed as McCalluN  :-\ Mistranscriptions are always a pain, even when you think you have all the wildcard possibilities covered!

David and Catherine only look to have had 5 children which we have as:

Elizabeth Walker McCallum - showing as aged 13 in 1911 (not with parents in 1901 it seems - original image would help to confirm this).

Charles McCallum born c. 1898

Jane McEwan McCallum born 1901

Joseph Watson McCallum born c. 1902

Mary Ferguson McCallum born c. 1904

Fantastic results everyone, and all those middle names of the McCallum children are all directly connected to my New Cumnock Ancestors - with the exception of the name Rae, which is still connected, but just a tad sideways!   In fact, after my 3 visits to New Cumnock over the years, I'm convinced I'm related one way or another to the entire population of the place, including those that I visited in the cemetery! Both my maternal grandparents were born there, and their families have been there just about forever!

I can't thank you all enough for your help with this one, it's puzzled me for a very long time.  On the marriage record of my great grandfather, where David and Catherine show as witnesses, Catherine's name is recorded as Catherine McCallum OR Watson, (not the usual McCallum M/S Watson -  it was unusual to see any reference to a maiden name anyway when the person was a witness - never seen that before!   I do have other Catherine's in my Watson family, and they were all called Cate!

What can I say - I really appreciate your huge contribution. Thank you so much.  You've all given me plenty to do over the cold winter!!  (As if there's never plenty to do when we follow our families back in time)!  ;D ;D ;D

Warm regards 🍾🍾🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🍾🍾
