O'Toole Antrim B ABT. 1765 D ABT 1818
« on: Thursday 07 July 16 19:46 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone, help would be greatly appreciated in finding the following person

O'Toole from Antrim (information found in family records)

It is likely his first initial is J (as all his Sons and grandchildren were James or John)

We have traced the sons and we have hard proof of them living together etc, but no record of the mother and no record of the father other than the above.

There is no mention of the mother or father on any marriage certificates. We have tried to locate birth certificates but they do not exist (devonshire records and London records)

His sons are

James Frederick Toole
1796–1847
BIRTH 9 JAN 1796 • Aldgate, Middlesex, England St Botolph Without Aldgate
DEATH 31 JAN 1847 • 17 Devonshire Street, Bishopsgate, Southwark, London, Surrey, England
4th great-grandfather

John Toole
1801–1838
BIRTH 1801 • Devon, England, United Kingdom
DEATH 5TH MARCH 1838 • Devonshire Street St Botolph, Bishopsgate, London, Middlesex

We know the father is from County Antrim from century old family notes, but we have no further information.
Wolley (London, Middlesex), Toole (London & Kings Langley hertfordshire, Bertout, Dadge, Griffiths, Worsley (Lancashire), Lewis & Tift (Lancashire), Mapstone/Mabston/Mapston

Very few records will go far enough back to find someone who seems to have left Ireland before 1796 and without a more exact location than 'Antrim' and an exact name it will be almost impossible to confirm that any record you do find is the correct person.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

O’Toole and Toole are not well represented names in Co Antrim , so I wondered if they left any branch relatives behind as they migrated.  So I quickly put together the most likely Co Antrim civil parish areas to find either O’Toole or Toole using this system as most national records {meaning census substitutes} used civil parishes say before 1870.

1819 Having the early success of Blaris , ,which includes Lisburn ,  I looked one step further, The Belfast Directory for 1819 includes a Lisburn section and an entry see http://www.lennonwylie.co.uk/1819_Lisburn.htm
Tool, Patrick, labourer, Antrim Lane

Early Emmigrant /Passsenger listslists are not my speciality, http://www.dippam.ac.uk/ied/records/21435 eg Convicts and Vagabonds for transportation exist  eg Charles Toole from Co Carlow is listed in 1740 and 1742

https://www.johngrenham.com/findasurname.php?surname=o%27toole suggests Toole is quite numerous in Dublin and Belfast.
So the above will illustrate to you the difficulties your search will encounter

Hi All,

Sorry for the delay in replying, we moved house and things have only just settled down.

So I have had a hint, which suggests a Baptism of 19 Mar 1797 - Armagh, Ireland

Residence of Killmady.

Though they have the DOB as 1797 not 1796

Parents of John Toole and Mary Fearny

Thank you @BallyaltikilliganG for all of the work above you did. It really if a very difficult line. We have 2 professors helping working on this line due to the parentage and links of J L Toole the Famous actor and the father J F Toole the famous Toastmaster.
