Are these twins, if so where is Dorothy?
« on: Saturday 23 July 16 11:20 BST (UK) »
Hi
Raymond Frederick Marshall son of Frederick George Marshall and Laura Jessie Kettle born 17 Oct 1916, birth registered Q4 1916 Southwark, I know he had a sister my maternal grandmother Elsie L L Marshall Q2 1913 Southwark and a brother Robert W Marshall Q3 1924 Camberwell. However I have found a Dorothy W Marshall Q4 1916 Camberwell (mothers name Kettle) could she be Raymond's twin sister and if so why is the registration district different. Also what happens to Dorothy as there is no one left to ask.

Very unusual if they were twins, as presumably they would have been born close to each other in the same place, and that is where their births would be registered. The only scenario I can think of for the difference would be if one was born first at home, there were complications with the second and the mother was taken to a hospital in another borough where the second one was born.

There is a marriage of a Frederick Marshall in 1899 at St Saviour, Southwark and on the same page Alice Maud M Kettle. Possibly Dorothy was their child?

Was Raymond Frederick Marshall the person who died in Lambeth in 1975 with a birth date of 17th October 1916? If so, when applying for the birth certificate of Dorothy, you could say you don't want it unless her birthdate is the same or at the most a day or so later.

Have you found them in the pre-war 1939 register? The preview is free. Do most of your Marshalls stay in the same area? Haven't found many clues for a Dorothy W Marshall born in 1916 :(

As they were born in 1916, because of the hundred years rule, they may not be shown on that unless someone has asked for their records to be opened and can prove they have died.

Its worth a look surely? Records of people younger than 100 and still alive, or who died after 1991 are officially closed. I can find some of my Grandad's older siblings born between 1901 and 1919 who died before 1991 on the 1939 register.
