Acronyms
« on: Wednesday 27 July 16 18:49 BST (UK) »
I have the 1939 census for an ancestor of mine and am trying to decipher the notes at the side of his name
They are as follows:  M of L etc DAA 29743  B/C Seem   I'm guessing 'male of late DAA died 29th of the 7th 1943 ' Looks as tho these notes were added much later as one addition on another name had the date of his death as 1960  Possible transcription for 1939 census?
No idea what B/C seem means   Any help would be appreciated

Birth certificate seen  ???

I don't know if that would be necessary - is it definitely 'B' - wondering if it is death cert. seen. I am also guessing seen for 'seem'.

Birth Certificate seen of HIS son, meaning that there was proof that named person who had died was his father

Just a guess....

Could DAA mean Death Acknowledgment Added as the date of death follows DAA ???

Hi,

I think the DAA is,

Area code: DAA
Enumeration District: Essex
Borough/District:  Southend on Sea
Type:  CB     (CB = County Borough)

http://www.findmypast.co.uk/articles/1939-register-enumeration-districts

I seem to remember that the dates showing changes to the original are the dates that the change was added, not necessarily the date of the event, but I can't remember why I think this!

Regards,
Daisy
