Plummer family
« on: Friday 29 July 16 21:59 BST (UK) »
Hello,
The 1851 census (HO107/2449/18/p13), shows the Plumber family, I’m sure this is my Plummer family. They are in Upper Llanhilleth at a Holding Farm, seemingly between The Argoed and Avodarthan.
Thomas 88, Elizabeth 53, Edward 29, Daniel 17, Rhoda 15. Census says all born Bedwellty.
Daniel is a Coal Miner, other males are farming.
I cannot find birth / baptism records for any of the offspring nor marriage for the ‘parents’ (big age gap).
Can anyone help please?

I'm not sure about the age gap - there's a death announcement for Mrs Elizabeth Plummer of Llanhilleth in 1879, aged 95. The 1841 & 1851 would have her as about 83 in that year

The Thomas and Elizabeth I see in 1841 surname Plumer at HO107 piece 750 book 7 folio 5 page 1
bedwelty has Elizabeth's age on the image as 45
The enumerator has done as was requested for the 1841 census and marked down the ages of anyone 15 years and over to the nearest five. So the children of this couple (assuming this as no relationships given in 1841) may not be two sets of twins
Thomas 70
Elizabeth 45
William 20
Thomas 20
Edward 15
Mary 15
Jane 10
Daniel 7
Rohda 5 (spelling on the image)
Mary 2
All born in county
So William and Thomas could be aged anywhere between 20 and 24 and Edward and Mary could be anywhere between 15 and 19
Also there are two Mary's. Would you give two of your daughter's the same name?

As there are no relationships, the younger Mary could be a grandchild

There is an Elizabeth Plummer age 63 at Trevethin in 1851. Wife of James, whose age on the image looks to be 37 and has been transcribed as such

Like you hencarrai I can't find any baptisms for the children or a marriage.
Whilst searching I did find this, which you may already have, and of course it may not be your Daniel as the death reg on FreeBMD doesn't give an age.
