Campbell's from Donegal
« on: Saturday 30 July 16 21:26 BST (UK) »
Hello everyone,

For 10 yrs i have been trying to find my great-grandparents on my grandmother's side of the family. Her name was Margaret Campbell born 1 feb 1909 in Kilcar, Dis. Kellsbeg, Donegal, Ireland. if the place is done incorrectly please tell me thank you. she died 4 jan 1999, Far rockaway, Queens, Ny and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery. but i am trying to find her parents. i only have her fathers name and some siblings. her father's name was edward campbell. two sisters bridget and Annie. 3 brothers, Edward, James, and john. i am sorry i don't have any dates for them but i do know that they were most likely RC. margaret married my grand father hugh Carr in 1938 in brooklyn, new york. if anyone could find something on margaret campbell's family that would be great. thank you very much.

Allison

Kilcar is in Glenties Poor Law Union and Civil Registration District (civil parish of Kilcar). The townland of Crowkeeragh (see below) is also in the same area.

Could this be the family in 1911?
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Donegal/Crowkeeragh/Crowkeeragh/486092

See here for map showing the location of Crowkeeragh-
https://www.townlands.ie/donegal/banagh/kilcar/crowkeeragh/

Kilcar is also the name for the Catholic parish- some records online but only up to 1881-
http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/1018

Margaret Campbell's N.Y. marriage certificate should list names of both parents as will her death certificate (although won't be as likely to be accurate since Margaret herself wouldn't have been the informant on the death certificate).

Looks like this is her travelling to U.S. in 1930 with Thomas Campbell (a brother?)-

12 Oct.1930 "Transylvania" arrived N.Y. from Londonderry, Ireland:
Margaret Campbell, 21, domestic, born Kilcar
Thomas Campbell, 21, farm lab., born Kilcar

still looking for 2nd page of manifest

Would she have been born less than 100 years ago? If so, fewer details are available online.

Some possibilities here but no way to tell from index who parents were.
