Trove Look Up Please
« on: Monday 01 August 16 01:51 BST (UK) »
Hi
Could someone please lookup the Queensland Times, Ipswich Herald and General Advertiser dated 24 Jan 1888 p 4 for me.  I have lost my connection and the article seems to refer to Thomas Quinn, a signalman at Toowoomba Railway Station.
Thank You

Is this the same Thomas QUINN as in your other current thread?

Yes I was inquiring to his baptism in Ireland.
I am sure now I have the right Thomas Quinn.  Thank you for the news articles.  It is really sad what happened to him.  I have had his DC for some time 1888/3214 which has a Magisterial Inquiry dated 1 Oct 1888 and have sent to Qld Archives for it.  I am hoping it will arrive this week.  It should explain the circumstances of his death.

Hi,

The Queensland Police Gazette Saturday, 29th September 1888 on page 331 has a notice dated 24th September 1888 re Thomas Quinn's absconding on 19th September.  The notice has a description of Thomas if you are interested.

Hi
I have received the Inquiry into the death of Thomas Quinn.  It was worth getting.  It has the date of admission and what he was treated for.  It seems he was working in the garden and on the 19 Sept 1888 he disappeared from his work.  It goes on to say that there was no fence between the garden and the river.  His body was found on 24 Sept in the river. He was identified by his clothing.  He was buried Ipswich on the 25 Sept 1888.

Thank you to all helped with the Trove articles
