Thanks. That was always my thought that they might be regimental cutlery. Looking at royal cyphers all the examples I can find have the monarch's initials in the middle. In my case I have the royal crest. I cannot find any example like mine. If anyone could find an example I would be most curious to see it.

Can you remember how they were described when you bought them?

Was it a specialist sale, of Government surplus, for example?

it was a specialist silver sale. Just described as silver gilt dessert knives 1802. I do not think the auctioneer even noticed the crest. Pete

I found this one example on a seal belonging to a son of George III
