Moorcroft
« on: Wednesday 17 August 16 15:52 BST (UK) »
Is anyone else researching the family of Moorcroft. I am back to abt c1650 to Peter Moorcroft who I believe is my 8x great grandfather. I have come to a standstill and wondered if anyone else had tackled this problem. Any info would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance x

Hi

Moorcroft is quite a common name , you need to give more info about the family you are researching.

Where was Peter Moorcroft born? Who did he marry? Names of any children? And where
were the family from.

Have you checked the Surnames Interest Table, here on RootsChat?

Scroll down to the bottom of any RootsChat page.
At the bottom, in the dark box, under the heading "Your Tools", you will find "Surname Interests".

Click on that, and then Quick Search.
Select M for Moorcroft, then MOOR for name beginning with that letter combination.
Selecting a surname will give you a list of RCers who have an interest in that name.
There's Moorcraft, Moorcroft, Moorecroft, Morecraft, Morecroft, and Morcraft! ;D

Thank you both for comments.

Here is what I have :

Peter was born c 1650 in Derbyshire and marries Mary I have a son Joseph who was born in 1683 in Tutbury, Staffs but then he married Mary Hudson and 4 subsequent generations lived and died in Church Broughton until they moved to the Midlands and became Mocroft which was my Grandmothers surname.

I was hoping someone else was following this line also x
