I've corrected Lily's sister's name:  it is Mary Alice; Mary Ann (Marianne) was their mother.

I haven't as  yet (!) found out why John Ashwin left for Australia c1900.

Are you able Rod to share with me as to in what line you descend from John Ashwin?

I've replied to your communique via the Personal Tab on Rootschat, which outlines but also advises that i have to ascertain the 'OK' from my England contact re the Ashwin line with which i've had contact for a year or two, in order that i may give free access to my maternal tree which houses the Ashwin line.

The Ashwin line is directly connected to my great great grandfather, Henry Miles via his 2nd marriage to a Scottish-born lady, Flora McKinnon in Melbourne in 1873.
