Hi Everyone
Sorry, have been out all day and you've been doing all the work!  And lots of it!

We know from the family of the first illegitimate daughter that Athol is the same one in divorce proceedings with Isabel.  Athol's Uncle Norman Cecil who died in 1930 (or brother depending on which way you look at it) married the sister of the woman that Athol had first gotten pregnant.

We're not sure which child whether it was the first of second (Tony's grandmas who is still alive) who the orders for child support were for - when there was a warrant for his arrest.  The other family thinks it was for their Grandma but Bertha was pretty feisty so it could well have been for our Grandma.

I still would like to know more about 'Bill' and would like to find a marriage or Birth Certificate for him to prove he isn't our man!

Not sure about the ABC photograph... I'll see if I can attach the only picture we have of Athol from early 1920's.

Here is a photo of Athol.  We're not really sure who the lady is - its meant to be his mother but no real proof of that.

By the way I can photograph the divorce papers for you next time I am at SRO if you like.   Who knows there could be a clue

I can't see a probate packet for "Bill" but I find the new revamped  ::) site very hard to use https://www.records.nsw.gov.au/ . If anyone can find one I am happy to photograph for you.

And has someone mentioned that transcriptions are cheaper than the actual certs and you can choose to limit to certain fields?

Hi Ros

That would be great if you could photograph the divorce papers thankyou! As you say you never know what might be in there.

I only discovered most of this over the weekend so haven't had a chance to sort out getting certificates yet.  I will go for the transcripts though as I know they are cheaper and also I think with recent information I've seen on other sites much quicker than the backlog there seems to be in NSW BDMs.

Does anyone know if I could get a transcript of Athol Arnold (Bill) death though without being a family member?  Here in South Australia I not sure that I could.

Thanks Deanne

Just found that I was totally wrong about the ABC connection - the "58" refers to the year they joined the ABC. That Athol has written a blog about it here: http://www.abctvgorehill.com.au/assets/contributions/athol_adams.htm

Still amazed that it's such a common name - the only Athol I had ever heard of before was in The Seekers  :P

Deanne, yes you can order a copy or a transcription of the NSW death cert even though not a family member for deaths over 30 years ago.

I think it likely this is the NSW death of the chap of the death notice and wife named May.
Also the subject of the news clip donating to an association whilst living at Wagstaff

ADAMS Athol Joseph
10759/1961
Parents George & Charlotte
NARRABRI

I note the mother's name with interest.

Why do you think that, Sue

I don't think there is any reference to him having 'Joseph' in his name.

This is the previously suggested death:

ADAMS ATHOL A B (FREDERICK A) 34910/1961 John and Blanche Newcastle

An Athol Joseph, father George married in a Constance McKenzie in Narrabri in November in 1908:

Death of wife of Athol Joseph:

Ellen Constance Adams 64388/1971 father Alexander Clodan and mother Ellen Constance Narrabri

Althol Joseph is buried at Narrabri with Ellen:

Birth of Athol Joseph: Athol J Adams 21553/1885 father Arthur G mother Charlotte Moree

I'm wondering if you were confusing Narrabri with Narrandera? Mirrool - in the death notice - is just up from Narrandera.
