Pearce Family of Maidstone Kent and Headcorn Kent.
« on: Monday 29 August 16 15:05 BST (UK) »
I was hoping to possibly make some connections as i have hit a brickwall after using ancestry websites and the LDS family site.

My mother's name was June Pearce. Daughter of John William Pearce ( 1904-1946) he did in Tunbridge just after the war and his  Ann Dorothy Palmer ( 1907-1996)must have fell into depression as after attempting to kill my mother and her siblings was placed in an institution.
Thomas Pearce (1873-1945) and Emily Freeman (1871- not sure of her death date but was after 1945 and may have been into the 1950's)

I have used sites to go back at least 4 generations but i was hoping for some more information.
Any answers is helpful

Welcome to RC, Glenn

What exactly are you looking to find out?

Are Thomas and Emily husband and wife?

Thomas' parents appear to be George & Emma Pearce.
She was born Canada
1891: Maidstone.
RG12; Piece: 689; Folio: 128; Page: 12;
George Pearce  43 Carpenter
 Emma Pearce  44
Thomas Pearce  18 Carpenter's app.
 Hubert Pearce  16
 Ernest Pearce  14
 Bertha Pearce  12
 Edgar Pearce  10
 Frederick C Pearce  8
 Heber Pearce  5
 Harry Pearce  3

1881: Maidstone
RG11; Piece: 931; Folio: 29; Page: 6;

1871; Maidstone
RG10; Piece: 943; Folio: 82; Page: 4

This appears to be George & Emma's marriage:
Marriages Mar 1869 Maidstone  2a 706
On the same page is Emma Noyes.

1861: Maidstone
Appears to be a butcher's boy living in.

1851; probably him.
HO107; Piece: 1617; Folio: 424; Page: 2;

George's parents appear to be George & Jane Pearce.

2 possible marriage for George & Jane:
1846 = Jane Driscoll
1847 = Jane Mason (this one according to the 1851 census).
Both Maidstone.
Is this what your looking for?

Did John have brother's Wilfred and George?

Or siblings, Lily, Alice Ernest, Ada? I think this one as father Thomas is a carpenter & joiner which fits with info found by Jim, above.

Marriage of Thomas and Emily in March Quarter 1896 2a 848 Maidstone

Thomas death: Sept Quarter 1945 2a 958 Maidstone aged 72

The only Maidstone death for a Emily Pearce after 1945 is: Emily M Pearce December Quarter 1955 5b 596 age 90

If I have the correct Thomas - the carpenter - on the 1901 census they are living on Perryfield Street.

On the 1891 census there is Emily Freeman, aged 20, living on Perryfield Street with parents Edmund and Emily Freeman and 9 siblings.

I think on the 1881 Edmund is Edward.

Edmund and Emily are married on the 1871 census aged 22 and 19. Emily's birthplace as Barming, Kent.

Marriage: Edmund Freeman to Emily Buckland December Quarter 1870 2a 887 Maidstone

On the 1851 for Edmund:

Edmund Freeman Head 76 Cranbrook, Kent
Mary Freeman Wife F 75 Maidstone, Kent
Joseph Freeman   Son 29 Boxley, Kent
Maria Freeman Wife 23 Scotland
Edmund Freeman Son M 2 Maidstone, Kent

Registration Number   HO107
Piece/Folio   1617 / 509

Marriage for Joseph Freeman to Maria Mathews June Quarter 1844 5 351 Maidstone

1841 Census:

Edward Freeman 67-71 Kent
Mary Freeman 66-70 Kent
Jos Freeman 19-23 Kent

Registration Number   HO107
Piece/Folio 490/16

First off thank you. Work and the death of my girlfriends grandfather kind of made me forgot i had posted this.

I have been able to go back probably 6 generations now. With the Pearce side of the family. Alot of Georges and it stops with Richard Preace born late 1600's early 1700s.

The estate of Ann Dorothy Pearce has closed. A cousin arranged it. After we all discovered Ann Dorothy did not died when people thought she did. But lived until 1996.

Anyone know if i am able to track down her records of when she was suppose to have been institutionised in the 40's?

John Williams siblings included Lily, Ada and Harry and Alice.

i think i went on a wrong tangent for Emily Freeman. As i had her parents as William Freeman and Sophia Smith. However my mum told me Emily Freeman had 9 siblings.

Apart from my grandmother Ann Dorothy.

I wanted to find out more about John William Pearce. He died in Tonbridge during the war. Yet he died in 1946.
I was told. I have a photo of him in a very basic "army" uniform. My mum told me he was a fireman during the war. And wonder if he may have been homeguard. As i cannot find any army records.

Also a huge thank you so far to you all.

Hi

I'm a bit late to the show but I will reply with the hope you see this message.
I've taken an interest in my family history and have been digging ever deeper.

This all came after finding a coat of arms in my great grandfathers belonging (it now resides with my older brother) The coat of arms was a Sable shield with a argent chevron, two gold unicorn heads were above and below the chevron.

I managed to find the described coat of arms in the "The general armory of England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales" stating that the coat of arms originated in Kent.

What made me interested in this post was the fact that the George and Emma Pearce had a son named Ernest Pearce, which is the name of my Great Grandfather.

From what I know, he lived in Livingstone, Zambia, where my grandfather Mallory Crossgrave Pearce, and my father Ivan Ernest Pearce lived until they moved to South Africa in the late 60's

If any of this information is valuable to you, I would love to dive deeper and find out if there is any connection.
I didnt know much about my great grandfathers origins or history as I cant find much.
