David Lockhart & Lillian Emberly Any info?

Hi lovely people,

I'm looking for any possible information on David Lockhart who married Lillian Emberly in Manitoba 19/02/1930. Lillian Mildred Emberly was born in 1909 and was adopted sometime between then and the 1911 census so I've hit a dead end there, but I do know that she married David in 1930, and that he died in 1965. What I don't know is when he was born or who his parents were. There were a couple David Lockhart births in the Manitoba Vital Stats, and I have no way of knowing which one is him. Would anyone be able to help? I can't afford to pay for ancestry right now or I would try there..

Hi,

The marriage took place in R.M. Rockwood. His obit says he was born in Greenwood, which
I think is incorrect, it should be Rockwood.

There is a birth Oct. 8, 1897 in R.M. Rockwood for David Lockhart, mother Joan Campbell.

Living with adopted parents Allen and Mary:
Lillian Mildred Emberly, age 12, born Manitoba, parents born England

Since David was living in the same town as Lillian, could this David be a possibility?

Update:  above posted prior to reading DB's entry.  It appears that the family could be the correct one. Great find with the place of marriage, DB.

 I had assumed that the 1897 David Lockhart was the correct one, but I was hoping to find his obituary or something to confirm that he's the same one who died in 1965, is anyone able to find that? If I could just confirm the year he died I'd know for certain that it's him. I'm pretty sure already though. If not, oh well. Also way to go on the death record of his brothers! Thank you so much for sharing that, I hadn't seen it yet!

Winnipeg Free Press, March 12, 1965

"On March 10, 1965, at the family residence Stonewall, David Lockhart age 67. Born Greenwood, Manitoba. Mr. Lockhart had farmed and lived in Balmoral and Stonewall District all his life. Funeral March 13 at 2PM, Interment Victoria Cemetery. Besides his wife Lillian, he is survived by 5 sons*, 6 daughters*, and 3 sisters Mrs. B. Inman, Mrs. W. Rankin, and Mrs. G. Mulholland."

* not named in case they are still living.

I think David served in WW1, here are his attestation papers, gives NOK as mother Joan.
A very odd signature for David. And oh so slow to load.

Library and Archives Canada are in the process of digitizing WW1 service files whereby you can
see the complete service file for free. At the moment they are on the letter L, so hopefully not
too long before David's becomes available.

I think that there is more than one error in David's obituary. Sister "Mrs. W. Rankin" is actually
Mrs. W. Hepburn. Rankin C. Lockhart married W. (William James) Hepburn in 1908 Stonewall, Manitoba.
