cant find census records further back than 1840  ???, why is this need to find a grandparent who was born in 1816 but have no birth record or record of her parent. Hanna Boreham nee Bishop born in Gazeley, Suffolk UK :)

Hi there

Assuming you are talking about the UK, the earliest national census was in 1841.

There are no birth certificates before 1837, before this you are dependent on parish records.

I'm sure rootschatters will be able to help you in your search

This couple also baptise a William Bishop 1820 and a George Bishop 1822

Marriage at Denston
William and Betsy Thorowgood 2.12.1816
(Sorry had already started to type).

Baptsim of William Bishop 3.2.1796 s of William and Sarah labourer of Higham at Barrow All Saints matches with birthplace on 1861 census
Betsy at Wickhambrook 20.4.1794 to Thomas and Mary

There is this 1841 census William and George are there with the parents the rest of the children seem to get baptised in Brockley instead of Gazeley. What else sticks out is that this is also the same place you're Hannah is living
