I think the obit has his age at 76 (if you look at the newspaper)  but it has been interpreted as 70

The only Mary having children in Scone is married to Duncan. They have 6 children from 1861-1871.

John and Janet had 8 children from 1866 -1884. One of which was Eion Argyle. 

Hugh and Isabella 7 children from 1863 - 1871
