John Evans of Llewellyn, Carmarthenshire
« on: Saturday 23 July 05 16:58 BST (UK) »
First, does anyone know if Llewellyn is a parish in Carmarthenshire?  In my genealogy it is spelled many ways ie. Llanwellen (which I know doesn't exist). Anyway, John (possibly middle name, Henry) Evans b. 1 Jan 1830 married Elizabeth Hardcastle, b. 28 Feb 1840, Ripon, Yorkshire, England.  Marriage date 24 July 1858 in New York.  John's parents are possible William and Mary Alice James.  Any help on this line would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Donna,

I checked the Genuki parish site for Carmarthenshire at:

http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/CMN/indexpars.html
and also the Gazetteer at:
http://www.old-maps.co.uk/gazetteer/10carma451/10carma451gazL.htm

but couldn't find anything vaguely resembling yours. Maybe Llanwnio?

I also have a John Evans from Carms born abt 10 years earlier than your, and he is my biggest stumbling block at the moment.

Sorry I can'T help any more than that.
