James Dougherty born NYC 1759
« on: Saturday 10 September 16 03:55 BST (UK) »
I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me find more info
on James Doughtery born 9 Nov 1759, NYC, USA...he was christened
18 Nov 1759 at the Trinity Parish Church, all we know is that his parents
were named Neal and Mary (not sure of her maiden name) i'd like to know
if any possible record might be able to be found to show where his
parents were from (haven't thus far been able to find a marriage
record, and there don't appear to be any other children born in the
USA).

any help would be most appreciated.

regards
Richard

Possibly not a lot of information around for the time frame you require.  Have you tried contacting New York City Historical Societies to see if they could help ???

thanks Sandra, will give them a shot :)

all i know of James is that he moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia and died there in 1808
and his death was mentioned in the NYC papers of the time (a short sharp mention)
