can anyone identify this airplane

This picture is of a Canadian in WWII so the plane is likely a RCAF or RAF plane.  Identifying the plane hopefully will help me to identify the man.  I know that he is my mother's cousin but he could be one of two people.

Found it by googling the number on the plane behind (K8724) and one result was an eBook in Google books - Canadian Warplanes By Harold A. Skaarup (ebook here http://tinyurl.com/zawktty )

Yes, the Anson was flown by the RAF, RCAF, Fleet Air Arm and other forces including the Netherlands.
