No death for son R.Evans anywhere (I believe he passed away very young)
1972: Gladys dies

If you want answers my suggestion would be to get the 1972 death certificate for Gladys Cavell WHITE which you can purchase & download immediately online from the Victorian BDM for $24.60.

The son of Gladys and Mr EVANS, whose birth in England predates the marriage, would have been eligible to register for voting at the 1963 election,

Your line of astericks in your original post seems to suggest a second given name for him, but none is indicated on his birth

Hi, my great uncle ***** Evans emigrated to Australia in 1950 with his wife Gladys and son ****. ******

Can you cite clearly the source of the immigration record?

I do not have access to FindMyPast. Is that where you located it?

As I say, there is not a death record in Victoria to 1988 for the son of Gladys (nee GRIGG)

Thanks Merlin, that makes sense about Pat and her mother's name also - didn't think of that. Also, yes, I did realise she was staying with family. I looked them up - they came over about 2 years after her. Not sure yet if they were brothers or cousins but they were younger than Gladys.

thanks again, Ian

Also: For everyone - For some reason I dont see replies straight away and I am new to this forum. I am not ignoring anyone when slow to respond.

Also, I will learn to cite records etc. :-)

You might want to check those details ;)
They were her mother Gladys, two brothers & sister.

Brother arrived April 1950
Mother Gladys & sister arrived July 1954
Brother arrived March 1955

Her mother Gladys died 1980 in QLD you can see her death on the QLD BDM:
