I think it odd also that her death notice in 2002 makes no mention of him.

  - or he is 105 years old somewhere!...and how do you find out this information?
Ian

As Dundee has pointed out, little information is  available beyond 1988 and the reason is to protect the privacy of individuals in accordance with Australian Law and consequently the policy of this forum.

Very many Cemetery records are, however, accessible and no doubt you have looked through them.

Perhaps Mr EVANS returned to England.

I should add there is not a record for the son of the same name (born 1942) dying in Victoria up to 1988.

I am not certain there was a marriage to EVANS, nor is OP I think

Hi Sue,
Thanks for the info. Both Mr Evans and his wife Gladys went on to re-marry (or at least take their partners name).  Ian

By 2002 when she died , Irene May,  was possibly widowed by her husband (who was born in 1914) married 1933.(#10214)

Mr EVANS, being a later partner, married to her or not....unknown.

She wasn't widowed by her first husband he died in 2003 & appears in records with another wife/partner & children.

Melbourne area cemetery checks are yielding nothing in Victoria for me. :(

Thanks again Sue, Merlin, Debra

This is what I have so far;

1950: R. Evans and wife Gladys Cavell Evans, with son R.Evans arrive at Sydney
1954: Gladys Cavell Evans is recorded at Brooklyn Migrant Hostel (just her)
1963 - 1980: R. Evans and Irene Evans (formerly Meyers - she was living in the same house as Meyers in 1949 and later) are recorded at 1 Hughes Street, Yarraville. Grace Evans is there from 63-68
1969: Grace dies
2002: Irene Evans dies
No death for R.Evans anywhere
No death for son R.Evans anywhere (I believe he passed away very young)

Gladys:
1958: Gladys Cavell Evans is recorded at Law Street, Redbank, Queensland with new partner JW White
1963-67: Now at 22 Beattie Street, Montmorency
1972: Gladys dies

I think the only way to find out about R.Evans snr is to somehow contact the daughter who placed the obituary notice for Irene in 2002. Not sure how I can do that though?

regards

Ian

My other thought was R.Evans may have used another alias because Gladys was known as Pat...

You do realise that when Gladys Cavell WHITE was in QLD she was staying with her family?

She was probably known as Pat because her mother was Gladys also.
Not uncommon for this to occur.
