John Griffith from North Wales
« on: Wednesday 12 October 16 11:18 BST (UK) »
I'm looking for information about my great grandfather's brother who went to work in America when he was quite young, his name was John Griffith born in 1862 at Hendy,Sarn Mellteyrn,Caernarvonshire,North Wales, his parents were John and Laura Griffith,he died in 1934.He came back to Wales in about 1910 I think,he is living with his mother in Wales in the1911census,he married and had five children after he came back to Wales. There were rumours that he had children in America, that's what I would like to find out and what was his occupation and where he lived.

Hi again, the 1911 John looks to be born something like Meyllteyrn?  In 1901 is a John Griffith 38 Single occ Farmer b Meyllteyrn ( transcribed as Matteryn) Residing at Cwmistiruchaf, Tudweiliog, Pwllheli?
Census ref RG13/5267/37/8
But suspect that more than one John Griffith was born c 1862 in Meyllteyrn?!

Hi,I had never heard that his father was a shoemaker,he farmed here at Hendy Mellteyrn, the family have lived here since 1860.The John you have in your third post is not correct.I would like to find out about him while he was in America,he must have lived there for quite a few years he went out when he was quite young probably to New York looking for work.
