thanks for the replies everyone, it is greatly appreciated. - i feel Nell may be correct, it seems to be the only error there and i have only just seen it now that it has been pointed out!  :-[

Likewise, in terms of just seeing the deletion !!, and seeing the whole page I agree, as is normally the case, that the annotation refers to this entry.

Once the registrar had signed the entry, no change should have been made to the entry. Any later addition of information should only have been done via an entry in the Register of Corrected Entries.

"M.B. C.M." is one of the most frequently occurring set of Scottish medical qualifications, -
MB = Baccalaureus Medicinae – Bachelor of Medicine; CM or ChM = Chirurgiae Magister - Master of Surgery.

Why the order of the one is one way round and the other the other way around, I know not!
