Hi Trish

I hope its a bit warmer in Sydney, I'm freezing here in Melbourne  :o  I've gone through all your work.... It's all my friend's family, and what a family it is.  Great work!

Many thanks

Claire

If you're still reading, you mentioned that on another transcript, Ann SURTEES is mentioned as 7th child of Robt SURTEES, Esq.  Are you able to elaborate?!

Regards, bitzar.

Hi bitzar

Still reading ;D

Both transcriptions were on FreeReg, one from the parish register ( said 1st child) the Bishops Transcript said 7th child. However I have found the actual image for you to look at from the Bishops Transcript: note how the '7' is noted in other baptisms, and how a '1' looks too. It is first child in my opinion. Plus, on some of the sites I g**gled Ann was the only child the couple had.

Hi Claire

I agree, I can only see 1 child.  From what I've g**gled also, docs show, Ann, an only child!

Thanks again for your help.

Hi again,

Quote;
Originally we thought that there were two Ann's, ie a second marriage.

So yes, you were right, Wives were Ann Surtees and Ann Elizabeth Fisher.

Yes, changeable weather here in Sydney, hot/rain/cold.

I am glad I could help :)

HI All, Firstly I would like to thank you all for the help you have been to me so far. This is my tree that Bitzar was asking about.
I odered an extract from the national archive for Robert Surtees Esq 1771-1808 which shows he had a sister Mary married to John Jobling, m 1781. on IGI I found 9 children. 2nd child Robert Surtees Jobling b1783 after her brother and 6th child Edward Greenwell Jobling b1793. I have also found on IGI a Anne Greenwell of the ford b1738 married to a Robert Surtees b1730. Now I know that William T Greenwell 1771-1854 was Roberts Surtees Solicitor and executor of his will and gaurdian of Anne Surtees his daugther.  William T Greenwell's father was Alan Greenwell 1746-1806 and he had a sister Anne Greenwell 1738. I believe that she is the same Anne Greenwell from IGI marrage to Robert Surtees and that Robert Surtees and they are Mary and Roberts Parents..... Sorry this so so long winded, I will learn to be better at this. Any help to prove or disprove this would be greatly appreciated.  Mocha100

Hi team

Is someone able to check for baptisms for the children of Robert SURTEES and Ann/Anne GREENWELL married Lanchester, Durham 28 Sep 1761?!  I'm interested to know how many children and how Robert describes himself?!  It's possible some children may of been born in Northumberland too!

Also any extra info on their marriage would be a bonus.

Regards, bitz.

You might get some help from Durham Records Online  :) http://www.durhamrecordsonline.com/index.php

Select surname: Surtees, record type Baptism, District Lanchester, father's first name Robert, mother's first name Ann.

You will need to buy some credits to see the full entries.

Alternatively, having found out the year from the free index on DRO you could go page by page through the Bishops Transcripts to find the full entry https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HT-D1ZQ-375?cc=1309819&cat=1809309
