Marriage Licences - Thorneycroft & Ward at Woodford Halse
« on: Sunday 16 October 16 15:49 BST (UK) »
Does anyone know if marriage licence allegations or bonds exist for Northamptonshire?  I am trying to find one for Joseph Thorneycroft who married Elizabeth Ward by licence at Woodford Halse on 8 Jan 1732/33.  Both were of Grimscote, Cold Higham.  I have found a baptism at Woodford Halse for an Elizabeth Ward in 1711 which I believe could be her.  The problem is I have found another Elizabeth Ward marrying a Thomas Boot in nearby Byfield in 1735 when that Elizabeth is described of being "of Hinton, Woodford".  I therefore have two Elizabeth Ward marriages with a Woodford connection but only one baptism.  I am hoping the marriage licence might help.

There's a second bpt at Woodford Halse CofE that may be relevant ...

Eliz. Ward d/o Thomas & Alice  1713 May 17

(Northants Baptisms Index)

Last time I searched Marriage Licences they were in a number of card indexes at Northamptonshire Record Office. They may help you with a quick look-up.

Thank you very much for that info.  I certainly didn't spot that baptism when I used the Northants collection on Ancestry.  I will have another look to see if I can work out which family she belonged to.  Many thanks again.

Thank you very much again. That's much appreciated.  It's given me something to work on.
