Thanks Isobel and Rosie - all that looks really promising.  I am away from home at the minute but will check it all out tomorrow.  Yes, the son did get married in Doncaster and I have good detail on the maternal side of that marriage, it was just the Crichton side that I was stuck on.
I will get back to you tomorrow, but in the meantime I am very grateful.  Carl

Hi Isobel and Rosie - Thanks for all your help, it is really appreciated.

Just a few loose ends - I see that you have been using up credits and I need to buy some so please let me know if I can do look-ups for you.
Deleted , subscription site look up offer.

I knew about the death this year of John Scott Crichton - I am doing this research for one of his sons who you mention, he is my daughter's partner.

Rosie - you gave the date of 21 Jul 1889.  Did you mean to write 1899?

Many thanks again, Carl
