Marriage Banns 1804 Sheepy, WORTHINGTON-ELD
« on: Friday 21 October 16 22:51 BST (UK) »
Hi all,

If anyone has access to the Parish records for Sheepy, I would be grateful for a lookup on the following:

Marriage entry or Marriage Banns for William WORTHINGTON and Mary ELD, 1804

My ancestors had their marriage Banns called in William's parish, Ansley (St Laurence's) Warwickshire on the 8th, 15th and 22nd January 1804.  That records stated William was of Ansley, and Mary was of Sheepy. It does not mention their marital status'.

They settled first in Sheepy, where they had their first 4 children, then sometime between 1812 and 1816, removed permanently to Ansley.

By all accounts Mary was born around 1771. This means she was around 33 yrs old when she married William.

I'm trying to establish if she was born as ELD or if this was a former married name. And hoping the Sheepy Marriages or Banns of Marriage records may state if she was a spinster or a widow.

Many thanks for your help and advice, all gratefully received  ;D

Cheers

Hi Bunnygirl,

That's very kind of you - thankyou!  Hopefully there will be some clues for us both - we may be cousins or in-laws perhaps; small population, I would imagine same names are usually related  ;D

You've probably come across this before, but there are a few ELD Burials in Sheepy here:

Hi AMBLY
This is what the parish register reveals. I started looking from 1760.
Marriage 9 Nov 1781 Joseph Eld - Ann Simmonds. Witnesses Sarah Mills & Sarah Jennings.
Thomas Eld c 1 Jan 1783 parents Joseph & Ann
John Eld c 16 April 1786 parents Joseph & Ann
Elizabeth Eld c 9 December 1787 parents Joseph & Ann
William Eld c 18 March 1792 parents Joseph & Ann
John Eld c 2 March 1794 parents Joseph & Ann
Mary Eld c 28 March 1796 parents Joseph & Ann
Mary Eld BURIAL 10 June 1796
Mary Eld c 20 April 1797 parents Joseph & Ann
Thomas Eld BURIAL 25 Nov 1803

Marriage 30 Jan 1804
William Worthington & Mary Eld Groom of Ansley. Witnesses Joseph Miller & Ann Miller.

The Susan Eld that shows on the link that you sent me was daughter of Mary Eld as follows
Susan Eld c 20 May 1816 mother Mary Eld illig Servant
Susan Eld BURIAL 16 Sept 1816 3mths Illig

Well I 've found my William Eld but can't find much for your Mary. There seems to be a large gap from getting married in 1804 to the baptism of first child in 1812 perhaps they were not babies when  baptised no ages are given  and Mary getting older all the time. Time was running out.

Well let me know your thoughts on this
Happy hunting
