Duars from Longtown.

I am looking for a Jane Duars b 1825 in Longtown. She married a James Johnston but I don't have any dates.

Do you have her and James on any census? Where did thy live after their marriage? Some dates and children's names would also help us to help you.

I think you may also have to look at the surnames Duers/Dewars/Dewers as  alternative surnames.

England, Select Births and Christenings, 1538-1975 show - Jane Dewars - baptised 18 September 1825 Dalston - parents John Dewars and Martha.

and Jane Duers - baptised 20 November 1825 - Rockcliffe,Cumberland. Father George Duers and Jane Foster.

As posted above by Sandra, there were two Jane Duers born in 1825, one to John Duers and one to his brother George. The daughter of John married a Joseph Crozier so your Jane is most likely the daughter of George.

All I have is 1861 she resided in Botchergate, Cumberland and 1871 in Jarrow, Cumberland. They have children John, George, Henry, Sarah Ann, James and Elizabeth.

1848 they were in Newcastle
1851 Carlisle but then 1853 Liverpool.
1854 Seacombe, 1859 Liverpool and 1862 Carlisle.

Are those dates based on the Places of birth of the children?

In the absence of a marriage certificate, how have you settled on the surname Duars for Jane?

Yes birth of the children. I am not sure how I found out as was a long time ago when I was searching this family. I don't have any marriage certificates.
