James Loughrey & Nancy McCabe married 10 May 1888 Bovagh R.C. church (Aghadowey Parish) which is in Co. Londonderry but comes under Ballymoney district- both giving Tamlaght as their residence-

Added- may be a coincidence but a John Loughrey (army pensioner, Aghadowey, son of James Loughrey labourer) married Annie Erwin on 20 June 1885 in Coleraine Registry Office.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Empire Settlement Act, 1922| Pier 21
www.pier21.ca/research/immigration-history/empire-settlement-act-1922
This site explains the Settlement Act and  might shed some light on Patrick as he might not have stayed with the program.

Going back to the passenger record for Patrick the 8 year difference in his age being born in 1891 according to the record on An****ry that is a pretty big stretch. Wonder if it was deliberate or he did not know how old he was ??? ??? ??? ???. Seems strange.

Going back to the 1901 & 1911 census forms it can be seen that Alexander, the head of the family signed his surname as LAUGHREY or LOUGHREY.  On 18 Aug 1927, Patrick LOUGHREY a labourer living in Lifford Co. Donegal, father Alex LOUGHREY farmer married Annie FEENEY from Altinum Park Co. Derry in a civil marriage in Feeny Co. Derry.  Maybe Patrick returned to Ireland?

Sadly, combinations of the surname still brought up "nil" results on ancestry  :'(  Could possibly have returned to Ireland/Scotland and is not recorded on a UK return passenger list - that would not be unusual.

Do we know if there were any other relatives in Canada at that time ?

This was the Canadian Passenger List Lilybell - Patrick's age was slightly off - born 1899 - belfast to Halifax Nova Scotia. (on ancestry)

The outgoing UK passenger list also has his age as 27 so they are out on both documents. The outgoing passenger list has his last known UK address as c/o Jas Shiels(?) Kilrea.
