Ha, you beat me to it - I just found that aswell and amended my post !!
Just found this ...
... "Conveyance for £50 from the above trustees to Rev. John Goring of Wiston Park, clerk, of the dwelling house lately used as a toll house, and known as Champions Gate, in Cowfold. 30 Dec. 1876."
It's still listed as Champions Toll House on the census returns up to and including 1891 but no longer mentioned on the 1901 onwards so it was obviously not in use any more.
Not sure if that's the place though as it seems way too big although it could have been extended over the years.
